Family Members Accused in Retail Thefts Across Three Counties

In a recent development, four family members have been arrested on suspicion of committing at least ten retail thefts across Riverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles counties, amassing more than $11,000 in stolen merchandise. The suspects, identified as Thomas Balandran, 50, Sherri Alvarez, 48, Brianna Balandran, 19, and a 17-year-old boy, were apprehended on May 13 at their home in the 6800 block of Valley Way in Jurupa Valley.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department began investigating on April 24 after deputies responded to a theft at a business in the 32100 block of Temecula Parkway. The initial incident involved the theft of $1,000 worth of merchandise from a store in a bustling shopping center. As detectives delved deeper into the case, they discovered the suspects were involved in a series of thefts across Southern California.

The Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team took over the investigation, eventually leading to the arrests. While searching the suspects’ home, authorities found a substantial amount of merchandise still bearing retail tags, estimated to be worth an additional $7,000. Additionally, narcotics and paraphernalia were discovered on the premises.

Further investigations revealed that other individuals had knowingly purchased some stolen goods to resell them for profit. This led to executing two more search warrants in Moreno Valley, uncovering an extra $3,000 worth of stolen merchandise. Authorities continue investigating and believe the three adult suspects may be linked to more thefts. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Deputy Christina Weber at 951-696-3133.
